Yuko Soneoka, PhD, JD, is Senior Vice President and Head of Intellectual Property.

Prior to joining Sana, Yuko was Vice President of Intellectual Property at Ring Therapeutics, a Flagship Pioneering company. Over a 25 year career in patent law, she has served as in-house counsel at various biotechnology companies as well as outside counsel at Finnegan LLP and Arnold & Porter, LLP. Prior to her career in patent law, she studied retroviruses for use as gene therapy vectors for her doctoral thesis and was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at Boston Children’s Hospital, studying the potential use of hematopoietic stem cells in stem cell therapy.

Yuko received her BS in Microbiology from the University of Michigan, DPhil (PhD) in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford, and JD from Georgetown University Law Center. She is a registered patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
